Extensive circuit testing revealed a limitation in the factory crankcase ventilation system under sustained high-RPM operation. During repeated track sessions, the OEM PCV system becomes overwhelmed, allowing oil to accumulate in the intake tract and resulting in smoke after only a few sessions.

Although BMW revised the drain-back design in later production (1996+), testing on the M62B44 confirmed that oil control instability and idle smoke can still occur after consecutive 20-minute sessions.

To address this we have developed a dedicated oil control solution designed specifically for the M60 and M62 platform.

By maintaining the factory internal oil separator behind the timing cover and integrating our external catch can system, oil vapor and pooling is efficiently managed before it reaches the intake. This prevents smoke, reduces oil consumption to near zero, and keeps intake components clean — maintaining consistent engine performance under high-RPM conditions.

• Requires intake manifold removal and replacement of the factory aluminum oil return pipe with the supplied hose
• Catch can mounts using the supplied Cusco universal brackets
• Ensure the catch can has adequate clearance from engine components
